Ian White will be the top seed at Players Championship 24 in Barnsley today, after the withdrawal of Michael van Gerwen from the field.

The second event of the midweek double-header gets under way at the Barnsley Metrodome at 12pm, with White now the number one seed and opening up against Peter Hudson.

Jose De Sousa made history yesterday by becoming the first Portuguese player to win a PDC event, beating Gerwyn Price 8-1 in the final of Players Championship 23. He starts his bid for back-to-back titles against Jamie Lewis.

Gerwyn Price, yesterday’s runner-up, will hope to go one better today and starts his campaign against Adam Hunt.
