Matt Porter Exclusive Interview

Co-host Alex Moss is back with a bonus episode and is joined by special guest Matt Porter, the chief executive of the PDC. In this exclusive interview, Matt talks about the last 12 months, running events during a pandemic and the challenges of keeping the tour going with an ever-growing international field of tour card holders. Matt also gives his thoughts on the new formats used for the Masters and Q-School this year, as well as last week’s UK government update and his hopes that fans will be allowed back for the World Matchplay in Blackpool this summer, and also answers some listener questions too. First, Danny Baggish (14:06) calls in after becoming the first American to secure a tour card at Q-School, and looks back on a dramatic week of results and ahead to what comes next in his career. Then, Gordon Mathers (38:43) joins us after winning his tour card, explains why a cancelled flight back to Australia led to him entering Q-School, and why Simon Whitlock has been a big help while he’s been based in the UK. Plus, Jack Main (1:02:49) calls in after clinching his tour card with a day to spare, via the UK Q-School Order of Merit, and talks through his darts career so far, his switch from football to darts, and his hopes for the next two years.
