Darts Atlas Bang Average League round-up #1: Burke makes perfect start to title defence

League A round-up

Paddy Burke started the defence of his Darts Atlas Bang Average League title with three whitewash wins to top the League A table.

Burke made an impressive debut in the second staging of the Bang Average League, finishing top of League A and with an unbeaten record.

And the debutant then dropped just three legs in the end of season play-offs, beating Barry Thomas (6-0) and Adam Pope (7-3) to follow Barney as the second BADL champion.

Burke opened his new campaign with a 68.32 average, in beating Michael Kimber (54.14) 4-0 on Monday last week, and improved that average to 69.10 when he saw off last year’s League B champion Liam Weaver (53.32) 4-0.

Burke’s average dripped to 55.16 in yesterday’s 4-0 win over Hayden Johnson (47.97), but the defending champion has opened up an early two-point lead at the top of the League A standings.

Debutant Neeman Hasida has made an impressive start to life in the Bang Average League, securing two wins from two games, and also picking up Sunday’s Monthly Cup title.

In his first game on Tuesday last week, Hasida (67.35) hit two 180s as he battled back from 2-1 down to beat another newcomer Bradley Warren (65.30) 4-2.

The following day Hasida (63.28) took out a 112 finish in a 4-0 win against Johnson (48.97), and on Sunday claimed wins over Warren, Ryan Holland and Rob Sullivan to be crowned our Monthly Cup champion for September.

Holland started his maiden campaign in League A with three points from two closely-fought games.

Holland (61.77) checked out 106 as he fought back from 2-0 down to earn a 3-3 draw with Warren (58.56), and then averaged 61.37 in a 4-2 win against last season’s runner-up Pope (56.50).

Pope (52.80) battled hard in his opening game to draw 3-3 with newly-promoted Weaver (50.40) last week, while Johnson (50.98) took out 80 in a deciding leg to edge past Kimber 4-2 (46.98).

Barney, the BADL’s inaugural champion, has withdrawn from the competition due to personal reasons. We wish Barney all the best and hope to see him back playing soon.

League B round-up

Alexandru Nicolae Costec has hit the ground running in League B with three wins from his opening three games.

The Romanian, making his debut in the BADL, averaged 59.52 in a 4-0 victory against Ryan Nassau (55.06), which he improved to 57.26 in beating Shane Wilkinson (44.24) by the same scoreline.

Costec (50.61) dropped his first leg of the competition in his third match, coming through 4-1 against Andy Woods (46.09) and is two points clear at the top of the table.

Sullivan, another new player to the BADL, has also made a winning start, averaging 52.80 in a 4-1 triumph over Dave Cromack (42.85), and then 52.92 in a 4-2 win against Woods (48.0), in a match which saw both players hit a maximum.

Elsewhere in League B, Wilkinson (38.15) and Woods (37.63), the two players to drop down from League A, played out a 3-3 draw, and Joe Lettice (50.88) won 4-1 against newcomer Dazz Humphreys (40.67).

Cromack (42.76) took out a stunning 146 finish as he battled back from 2-0 down to beat Humphreys (38.54) 4-2, and Nassau (53.20) picked up his first two points of the season after beating debutant Dan Marshall (51.03) 4-0.
