We’re back with episode 121 of the Weekly Dartscast! Co-hosts Alex Moss and Burton DeWitt are joined by special guests Tony Newell and James Beeton on this week’s show!
On this week’s podcast, Alex and Burton start by reviewing Players Championships 25 and 26. After proclaiming himself world champion this year, following his win on Sunday, how do the team rate Mensur Suljovic’s chances at Alexandra Palace in December?
On Saturday, Daryl Gurney won his first floor title of 2019 and first title since March. How significant was that win for the man known as ‘The Handicapper’s Nightmare’ heading into a busy end of the season?
Plus, with the field now set for the World Grand Prix next week, Alex and Burton pick out which players they want to avoid in the draw if they were seeds in Dublin.
The team are joined by Tony Newell, who calls in ahead of making his first appearance on the European Tour this year, at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy on Friday. Tony looks back at his PDC career so far, winning his tour card three times in three attempts at Q-School, his 2019 season to date and his hopes now for the rest of the current campaign.
Alex and Burton then bring us their preview of the Gibraltar Darts Trophy this weekend. How important is it for Michael van Gerwen to win the final European Tour event of 2019, and which players could sneak into the line-up for the European Championship this weekend?
James Beeton then joins us on the show to chat about his 2019, which has seen him pick up several BDO youth titles, make his debut on the PDC Development Tour, and continue to impress on the JDC circuit. James calls in ahead of flying to Gibraltar earlier this week for the JDC’s festival of darts, which concludes on Thursday with their World Championship.
Alex and Burton round off this week’s podcast by answering some of your questions from Twitter.
