DT7: Ryan Meikle wins second PDC Unicorn Development Tour title of 2019 in Wigan

Ryan Meikle claimed his second PDC Unicorn Development Tour title of 2019 in Wigan on Sunday.

The 22-year-old, who won Development Tour 3 last month, doubled his tally for the season by winning the first of two events staged today at the Robin Park Tennis Centre.

Meikle’s tournament average of 85.35 took him to a fourth Development Tour title of his career, with wins coming against John Brown (4-3), Nicolai Rasmussen (4-2), Jacob Gwynne (4-3), Mike van Duivenbode (4-0), Nathan Rafferty (4-1), Geert Nentjes (5-3), Harry Ward (5-4) and Andrew Davidson (5-2).

The Suffolk thrower’s best performance came in his last 64 victory over Gwynne, an average of 96, four 180s and legs won in 11, 16, 13 and 16 darts.

Ranked 77th on the PDC Order of Merit, Meikle’s second £2,000 title win of the season puts him top of the Development Tour standings.

The top two players on the Development Tour Order of Merit at the end of the season will both qualify for the 2020 William Hill World Darts Championship.
