Dave Parletti survives match darts in the final to win Romanian International Darts Open

Dave Parletti claimed his fourth BDO ranking title after beating Gary Robson 6-5 in the final of the Romanian International Darts Open in Bucharest on Sunday.

The 35-year-old, who made his Lakeside debut earlier this month, survived three match darts from Robson at 5-4 down in the final, before winning the last two legs to clinch the €2,000 top prize.

Robson made the better start in the best of 11 legs decider, opening up leads of 2-0 and 3-1, before Parletti hit back with a three-leg streak, which included a 12 darter, to move in front for the first time at 4-3.

Back-to-back legs for Robson, the top seed in Romania for the Category A event, put him one leg away from the title, but the former Finder Darts Masters finalist then missed three darts at doubles in the 10th leg to get over the line.

A reprieved Parletti returned to the board and found double three with his last dart to force a deciding leg, which he won with a 50 checkout on double 16, to add to his Welsh Masters and Wolverhampton Open titles from last year and Jersey Classic crown in 2017.

The winner of the Romanian Classic was also determined on a deciding leg, with Greece’s John Michael, a PDC tour card holder following European Q-School earlier this month, beating Derk Telnekes 6-5 in the final.

Meanwhile, Aileen de Graaf won the Romanian Open ladies’ title, beating Deta Hedman 5-2 in the final. Poland’s Karolina Podgorska, who had won the event the previous two years, saw off Margaret Sutton 5-3 to claim the Romanian Classic trophy.
