Jim Williams will become the new number one in the BDO following Glen Durrant’s success at PDC UK Q-School yesterday.
The Welshman, who reached the semi-finals at Lakeside for the first time earlier this month, was also bidding to win a tour card in Wigan last week.
A run to the last eight on Friday had put Williams in a strong position going into the weekend, but two early exits on the final two days ended his hopes of winning one of the 19 tour cards available.
Reigning BDO world champion Durrant was successful in his bid at Q-School, finishing in the top 11 of the Order of Merit to grab one of the remaining tour cards left, following the completion of the event yesterday.
Along with Durrant, former Lakeside finalist Mark McGeeney, Scott Baker, Conan Whitehead and Darius Labanauskas also won tour cards at Q-School and have moved over to the PDC.
