A new champion will be crowned when the Darts Atlas Bang Average League play-offs take place this Sunday.
The fifth season of the online league is set for an exciting conclusion, as former BADL play-off finalist Ryan Holland enters as the top seed following an exciting league phase which saw the top four separated by just three points.
Holland, a runner-up in BADL 3 to Paddy Burke, the three-time champion who sat out this season due to work commitments, faces League A newcomer Dan Marshall in the first semi-final.
The pair played out a high-quality contest during the league phase, in which Holland averaged 67.56 to Marshall’s 62.14 and came back from 1-0 down to win 4-1.
Holland posted the highest tournament average during the league phase, of 63.09, on his way to racking up 13 of a possible 16 points, a points haul that enabled him to finish top.
Last season’s League B champion Ian Bain impressed in his maiden League A campaign, and was in fact the only player to defeat top seed Holland during the league phase, averaging 69.58 to Holland’s 66.07 in a 4-2 win.
Bain heads into his first League A play-offs boasting a win over all three of the other players competing on Sunday, having beaten Marshall 4-1 and his semi-final opponent Neeman Hasida 4-0.
Hasida enters as the third seed for what will be his third consecutive appearance in the League A play-offs. The Israeli ace is aiming to make it third time lucky by reaching the final for the first time this weekend.
Following the two semi-finals, Marshall and Hasida will contest the final of the Bang Average League Cup, before the League A play-off final closes out the session. Should Marshall and Hasida both reach the final, then the two will face off once in a winner-takes-all clash for both titles.
Elsewhere, the play-offs are now set in League B, as four players battle it out next week for the second promotion spot up into League A for next season.
Barney, the first-ever BADL champion, made a stunning return to the league, winning nine and drawing one of his 10 fixtures to secure the League B title and an instant return to the top division.
The play-offs features a mix of BADL stalwarts and newcomers, with newbies Simon Charles and Steven Dow contesting the first semi-final, and Liam Weaver and Dave Cromack facing off in the other one.
