We’re back with episode 111 of the Weekly Dartscast! Co-hosts Alex Moss and Burton DeWitt are joined by special guests Jamie Hughes and Beau Greaves on this week’s show!
We start the podcast by reviewing a very eventful Czech Darts Open, which saw Jamie Hughes win his first PDC ranking title and with it secure a debut at the World Matchplay. We discuss how high Yozza can reach in the PDC rankings, whether Stephen Bunting’s run to the final could spark a return to his early PDC form, and try to dissect the carnage that unfolded on Saturday, as 11 of the 16 seeds fell at the first hurdle.
Next, we are joined by special guest Jamie Hughes, just a few days after his maiden PDC ranking title success in Prague. Yozza calls in to chat about his big win at the weekend, life so far on the PDC circuit as well as look ahead to an exciting second half of 2019.
Then, talk moves to the World Matchplay. With the 32-player field now set, Alex and Burton make their early predictions for who will lift the title, as well as pick out which players will be most disappointed not to be heading to the Winter Gardens this year. The team also discuss which players are most in need of a run during the next two weeks as the World Series begins in Las Vegas this week.
Next, we are joined by our second guest of the week, the newly-crowned BDO Gold Cup champion Beau Greaves. The 15-year-old calls in to discuss her stunning run of form, which has seen her also pick up the Welsh Open and England Open titles, look back at how she first got into the sport, and her goal of qualifying for the Ladies’ World Championship next year.
Finally, we finish up with a few quick-fire questions, starting with who Alex and Burton think will win the Women’s World Cup semi-final between England and the USA (spoiler: USA won). Plus, as we wave goodbye to June, the team pick out their highlights from the first half of 2019 and what they are most looking forward to for the rest of the year.
