BDO rankings watch: World youth champion Leighton Bennett closing in on men’s top 50 after run to Polish Open semi-finals

Reigning world youth champion Leighton Bennett is on the brink of breaking into the top 50 of the BDO men’s rolling rankings.

The 13-year-old enjoyed a profitable weekend in Police, Poland, reaching the semi-finals of Saturday’s Polish Open and then the last 16 of the Police Masters on Sunday.

Bennett picked up 18 ranking points for those two runs which has pushed the teenager up to 56th on the newest rankings, just seven points behind Northern Ireland’s Paul Brown, who currently occupies 50th spot.

Meanwhile, Toon Greebe, the winner of the Polish Open, as well as runner-up in the Police Masters, now has a BDO ranking and is joint 178th.

Mark Blandford, who denied Greebe a double in Poland by beating him in the Police Masters final, has risen to 90th.

Denmark’s Fie Skinnes, who won the Polish Open ladies event, is joint 119th on the ladies’ rolling rankings, while Police Masters winner Deta Hedman remains in fifth spot, six points behind Aileen de Graaf in fourth.
