Leighton Bennett set a new record on his way to winning a fourth title on the Junior Darts Corporation (JDC) tour this season in Chorlton on Saturday.
The BDO world youth champion, who recently reached the semi-finals of the German Open, won Event 8, while Nathan Care pocketed his first JDC title in Event 7.
Blackburn’s Care, 14, came through three last-leg deciders en route to the title, including a 4-3 win over Luke Littler in the semi-finals, before seeing off Henry Coates 5-1 in the final.
Later in the day, Bennett won the second tournament on offer, and dropped just two legs in doing so, recording whitewash wins against Jack Boardman (4-0) in the last four and then Mitchell Leeming (5-0) in the final.
But it was in his quarter-final victory over Littler where the 13-year-old impressed the most, posting a 112.7 average, the highest ever on the JDC tour since its formation in 2015.
